PCES Volunteer Delivers Baby at Mt. View Convenience Store
By Editor Becky Watts

MEANSVILLE - In the early morning hours of Saturday, December 27, Pike County Emergency Services (PCES) First Responder Juli Reeves delivered a baby boy at the Mt. View Convenience Store. Juli has been a volunteer for three years with PCES and has been an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for two of those years. She is a support firefighter for Station 3 and responded when the call went out about a woman in labor.

"Upon arrival, it became immediately obvious that delivery was imminent. And by the time more help had arrived the baby was born," said Station 3 Captain Brian Michel. "It's never easy to deliver a baby in a car with limited people and equipment, but her fast thinking created a positive outcome for mom and baby."

"That was my first delivery! It was on my bucket list to deliver one so that was pretty awesome to check off! It was the best feeling in the world!" said Reeves. "I was the first one to hold him, the first voice he heard and the first face he saw! It was a very humbling experience! It was a blessing for sure!"

Reeves said that her parents raised her to serve others. She does this by working in the Emergency Room in Upson Regional Hospital and volunteering right here in Pike County. Reeves visited the mom and baby boy at the hospital after the birth. Both are doing well!
